Where wind does its damage
Wind rarely pushes a whole roof off. It works at edges and seams. Shingles along eaves, rakes and ridges lift first, and once the adhesive strip breaks, the next gust can fold or tear them. Flashing around chimneys and vents loosens. Vinyl siding unlocks from the course below it. Soffit panels blow out and let wind driven rain into the attic. Gutters pull away, and debris breaks windows and punctures roofing.
Many Fraser, CO homeowners see only a few shingles in the yard and assume the damage is minor. Creased shingles that are still in place, however, may no longer seal and can leak in the next rain. A careful inspection looks for those less obvious signs.
Emergency protection
When wind opens the building, the first goal is to stop water getting in. Our crews install tarps over damaged roof sections, secured with battens so they hold in later gusts, and cover broken windows with plywood. Where soffit is missing, the opening is closed temporarily to keep rain and animals out of the attic. We photograph damage before and after protection so your claim shows the condition we found.
We do not climb roofs during active high wind or lightning. If a storm is still passing, we schedule the crew for the first safe window and advise you on interior protection by phone.
Permanent repairs
Exterior repairs are matched to the materials on your home. Replacement shingles, siding panels and trim are sourced to match as closely as possible in profile and color; with older products an exact match is not always available, and we explain options before ordering. Roofing work is completed by licensed roofing contractors where your jurisdiction requires it, coordinated through our project lead so interior work waits until the building is sealed.
Manufacturers publish wind ratings for roofing and siding products, and many shingles require specific nailing patterns to meet those ratings. Replacement work follows the installation instructions for the product used.
Fences, gutters, awnings and outdoor structures are often damaged in the same storm. We document those items with the rest of the loss so your adjuster sees the full picture, and we tell you which repairs we handle directly and which are better handled by a specialty contractor.
Interior damage from wind driven rain
Water that entered during the storm soaks attic insulation, stains ceilings and runs down wall cavities. We check with moisture meters and thermal imaging, remove wet insulation, and set drying equipment as described on our Water Mitigation page. Stained or sagging ceilings are handled through our Ceiling Water Damage service.
